We have all been hearing a lot about the really tough readjustment time many/most of our young men and women are having adjusting to coming home. I suspect that many of our soldiers who re-inlist, do so because they can’t adjust to normal life again or at the very least, they can’t find a job.

Although our recent Veterans enlist as a job, as opposed to be drafted, these young men and women have no F&^^G clue what they are getting themselves into. I realize I only see Veterans who are having problems, so I have never yet met one who didn’t have any serious issues. At the same time, I always ask this question of the Veterans: Do any of your fellow Veterans feel much better about their overall experience and our national involvement? So, far the answer is a resounding NO.

Again, there is some selection bias and I am sure there are a number of soldiers coming back from our insane wars of recent years, who feel the experience and loss was a small price to pay, but I would like to meet that soldier.

I have now seen a handful of recent war veterans. They have all been both physically and mentally injured. The PTSD patients respond very well to 3 mg of whole plant CBD/24 hrs. We are going for oral 10 mg doses more for the Veterans with severe pain.

Yes, I am stating that Veterans with PTSD seem to benefit from under 4 mg CBD/day, in whole plant form. Veterans with painful injuries, at least in very early experiences, have substantial pain relief from oral doses of 10 mg CBD in whole plant form.

I am looking for a lot more experience. Anyone out there know a Veteran in pain or with psychological stress? GreenBridge Medical will accept what they are comfortable paying and help make CBD dosable medicine available to them at very low cost – or in barter with StateWideCollective, assuming they are grower members of the collective.

A recent ESPN article highlighted the social use of marijuana among student athletes involved with the Oregon Ducks Football program. The story focused on the growing number of athletes using marijuana recreationally. That wasnt the ground breaking news.

What was interesting and perhaps confirming among many researchers in the medical cannabis field, was the brief commentary on athletes using marijuana to address their anxiety prior to games. A prominent former all-american quarterback was qouted as saying several team members smoked to help them focus and calm down. Certainly, a quarterback can not afford to be mind altered. Obviously, a middle linebacker has no reason to be “baked” on the field. Can the running back carry the ball 30 times for 200 yards after smoking two joints? These athletes are seeking performance balance.

We all face anxiety before big meetings and athletes do before big competitions. Some seek treatments and medications so they are no too high (emotionally) for competition and instead remain clear/focused. It worked for Oregon …ask the Pac 12 how “stoned” the Ducks were when they were winning games by 30 points. Ask Wisconsin ….who lost to Oregon in the Rose Bowl. These athletes were not using marijuana to get high …..they were looking to achieve the maximum level of mental focus to achieve maximum performance.

This confirms a need for more studies with CBD. Athletes dont need to get high …they need to get balanced.

Well, not so surprising, but with three ballot initiatives competing against one another, there are not enough signatures or money for any of them to make the 2012 ballot. So, how in the world could this have happened?

I have found that as a gross generalization, cannabis users tend to be in the “grey” areas of life as opposed to the “Black and White”. In general, people either using cannabis or at least fully open to other people’s use, are those in the grey areas of life. As a group, we enjoy looking at life from many different views and we use cannabis to keep our views and perspectives open and perhaps even flexible based upon the facts.

So, as Proposition 19, which almost won, fades into the past, so do the ballot initiatives for 2012 – a big presidential election year. Depending how you count, there were either two or three cannabis initiatives slated for November 2012 and it appears that they are all dead.

We better all get behind an initiative next time that aims to find a middle and reasonable ground, allowing AT THE VERY LEAST, a single initiative next time. PLEASE??
