How Did It Happen That Plant Cannabinoids Effect Our Receptors?

One often hears that the cannabis plant was “made for man”. It certainly does feel like it was. It is certainly amazing that the phyto-cannabinoids on the plant so closely resemble our own internal “endo-cannabinoids”. We make Anandamide and 2-AG while the plant makes THC and CBD.

The molecules are actually very similar. If you unfold the carbon rings of THC and CBD they look very much like Anandamide and 2-AG. Clearly their effects are extremely similar.

So, was it a greater power of some sort like aliens that MADE the plant for man? I seriously doubt it. There are many plants in nature which have many, many varied and powerful effects upon us – such as feeds us. Was it an alien or act of deity for food to work so well? What about so many other natural medicines?

So, why or how did this happen? I think it is perhaps that nature tends to stick with what works well. Six carbon chain ringed molecules are all over this plant and started billions of years ago. Some very early endocannabinoid systems FAR preceded the appearance of the cannabis plant; probably by 700,000,000 years.

We should not be surprised that nature uses it’s amazing patents throughout creation; we should be surprised when it does not.
