Many of you have heard about this absurd Treaty from the 60’s. It prohibits any of the 300+ countries who signed the treaty from legalizing cannabis.
Portugal did it and they did not get bombed. Uruguay may legalize Cannabis and I have not heard of any secret invasions into Uruguay.
Here is a post the “Save Cannabis” thread which holds the interest, for some reason, of many of us. For the most part, the “Save Cannabis” Google forum, is a place where people in the cannabis community vent and tear one another apart. At times there are great point made or it becomes important to contribute something intelligent.
First is my response and below is the original thread with names removed.

I do not believe this is correct. Other countries have ignored the treaty and so far they have not been “banned” nor bombed. (maybe bombed)
From good legal authority, IF the US wanted to get out of the ban it would take just under a year.
Regardless, let’s all remember that in six countries, including our northern neighbors, Sativex, which is whole plant cannabis extract is already legal and being prescribed by “mainstream” physicians.
How can this possibly not violate the treaty? How can the US patent of CBD not violate the treaty? Since pharmaceutical companies are in recent years going the whole plant route AND the FDA has encouraged the development of more complex “natural” medicines, the Feds are clearly not moving in this direction.
I think the treaty is just a convenient excuse for anyone wanting one. My goodness, I think I remember bombing other countries to oblivion with most of the world against it.
We break whatever treaties we want, whenever we want to. We kill and leave starving millions of people and we are judged as a nation for our reckless behavior.
I just can’t be concerned that after all the bombs and torture, the world will think poorly of us for legalizing cannabis.
