As more and more patients add CBD to their cannabis regimen, we will for certain find serum levels of THC being relatively “elevated” but with decreased or virtually no psycho activity. Let’s imagine a test or two:
For example, in test 1 give a patient, George, 25 mg of oral THC. Check serum THC levels at 30, 60, 90, min etc.
You would find very elevated THC serum levels and a patient that is clearly intoxicated. We will give poor George some very simple cognitive memory tests, such as “Name and age”. If you repeat the same test and give George say 25 mg of oral THC at first and then add 25 mg of CBD, and probably a lot less, the serum or blood levels of the THC will not be changed by any significant amount but George now remembers his name, age and much more.
So, is this a possible defense? MAYBE
Should we all carry around little tiny CBD bottles if “suddenly at risk”?? ALWAYS
Should we abandon serum levels? YES
