What Is Dose Range Of Whole Plant CBD?

This is a question that at times plagues me all day long. By FAR the most complex and confusing question I get is “How much CBD/THC should I use to treat my cancer”.  My answer is always that I don’t know and none of us really yet do. Does Cannabis cure cancer? It is way, way to early to say.

I believe we can say that we are seeing remarkable responses that MAY end up being cures and that some people do not get better. Period. I WISH everyone on any cannabis oil got better for ever; i.e. cured. Maybe this will in large part be true, but we do not yet know.

On to dosing issues that I do feel more comfortable giving out. I wish we had more data to based this on, but the varying ratio extracts are just too new.

Let’s take one example, “anxiety”. I cannot for the life of me find an article that specifically tells me the best dose of WHOLE PLANT cannabis to advise a patient. The only whole plant medication out there in ANY study is Sativex from GW Pharmaceuticals. Even the minute information regarding anxiety, is not very valid as WE are all quite certain, (those of us seeing patients on dosed whole plant medication) that for ANXIETY, a much higher ratio of CBD:THC is indicated. It is not that a 1:1, like Sativex, will work for anxiety, but for FAR LESS patients and usually not as well.

There are times, a 1:1 can be used when a patient has both severe pain and anxiety, but I usually advise them to have some very high CBD:THC around to “calm them down”, if it is at times too much – particularly during the day.

For patients such as with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, MS, Neuropathy, generally having some THC is advised. The dose here and with many other disorders is as much individual as predictable.

So, start SLOW, 2 mg once daily and SLOWLY increase for most issues and most patients.

Finally, when a patient’s dose of extract given sublingually is above 15 mg/day and little benefit is seen, they should discuss an oral route for 80% of their prior sub-lingual dose with some fat, such as toast and avocado or in coconut milk.

Allan Frankel, MD Dr Allan Frankel is one of the few physicians in the US who truly understands Cannabis as a medicine. All treatments suggested have been well studied. Every patient seen by Dr Frankel is given a personally created Treatment Plan created with the patient's specific issues defined. Plant medicine requires "tuning" of the dosing. Dr Frankel works with his patients thru a messaging portal. The use of this portal, allows quick and simple follow up contact with Dr Frankel. Patients are not charged for these messages, as this is how Dr Frankel has learned what he has learned. Follow up appointments in person or by phone/video are also available when needed

Rationing Health Care

With COVID, we have never been more aware of critical shortages of masks, ventilators, hospital beds, etc., all leading to rationing. In this BLOG, Dr Frankel, examines how rationing in our medical care is a much bigger problem than just face masks.

Cannabis May Prevent COVID-19 Infections

Early studies in both Israel and Canada show findings consistent with CBD's effect on COVID-19's ability to take hold in the lungs or the gastrointestinal tract. If the receptors are reduced, the viral infection and pulmonary toxicity should be reduced.
