WHICH FORM OF CBD FOR THERAPY OF SCHIZOPHRENIA?

It is pretty clear that CBD is very effective for therapy of Paranoid Schizophrenia (please see references below). There are blinded clinical trials, many reports as well as my personal experience treating patients with Schizophrenia using Cannabinoid Medicine.

Two weeks ago I saw a 28 y/o male with Schizophrenia. He had been using hemp-based CBD and had taken as much as 150 mg daily. The product he was using is described as a hemp-based medicine, according to online descriptions. Many of these hemp-based products are easily available online.

In spite of this patient taking in excess of 100 mg daily, he and was not much better, if at all. His symptoms including hallucinations, paranoia, anxiety and more were not better and he was getting desperate.

I suggested he stop taking the hemp-based products and instead, take whole plant cannabis derived CBD at a 20:1 ratio. He slowly ramped up to 30 mg daily and is now around 80% better. We MAY need to increase his dose, but I will have him stay at this comfortable dose for a couple of more weeks. I imagine, as many other of my Schizophrenic patients, he will do well even if we need to increase to 60 mg of CBD daily.

The point is obvious. This is not a new finding in our own patients. Hemp-based CBD has very low medicinal value. I suppose it is worth a try if a patient cannot obtain cannabis based CBD, but it is not something I recommend.

Serious illnesses such as Schizophrenia require the best medicines and in my experience, I do not find hemp-based medicines fit that requirement.

Cannabis May Prevent COVID-19 Infections

Early studies in both Israel and Canada show findings consistent with CBD's effect on COVID-19's ability to take hold in the lungs or the gastrointestinal tract. If the receptors are reduced, the viral infection and pulmonary toxicity should be reduced.
