Whole Plant CBD Dosing Very Different Than Molecular CBD

In most clinical studies and trials with CBD, the medicine used is “molecular” CBD. In other words, CBD that is just that one molecule in the medicine. With whole plant cannabis extractions, there are nearly 500 molecules involved.

As I have discussed on a number of occasions, any consideration of using excessively high doses of whole plant CBD will be met with significant psychoactivity and classic “out of body” experiences. I have seen this myself and below is a letter from a patient describing what happens when a hundred mg of whole plant extract is taken.

I am NOT saying that it is the CBD itself that causes any of the psychoactivity; it is the “Entourage” of all 500 or so molecules working together that gives the ultimate clinical effect.

Below is a letter from a patient in the UK. He had heard that “CBD” was not psychoactive and apparently a couple of patients took 50 and 100 mg of CBD, but it is whole plant extract format, I expect as Sativex. It is not the CBD causing the psychoactivity, but the other molecules in Sativex. It is this vast different in clinical effectively, i.e. needing 2 mg of whole plant CBD instead of 200 mg of molecular CBD, that makes the whole plant concept so reasonable.

There is a place for molecular CBD, but we must remember it’s dosing is far, far greater than whole plant.

Perhaps we need to begin adopting “whole plant” or “wp” cannabinoids from “molecular” cannabinoids.

Patient letter triggering this blog:

Hello Doctor,

Recently 2 people haver told me they have suffered similar ‘negative’ side effects from CBD.

One took 200mg and had a horrible time, the other just 50mg.

They both describe the side effect as a ‘disconnect’ – Almost Dysphoria.

This shocked and surprised me, as I always thought this was the very thing that CBD remedies.

Did you find any side effects to be negative like this at all?

Any info you have would be very helpful.

Thanks,
XXX

Every patient seen by Dr Frankel is given a personally created Treatment Plan created with the patient's specific issues defined. Plant medicine requires "tuning" of the dosing. Dr Frankel works with his patients thru a messaging portal. The use of this portal, allows quick and simple follow up contact with Dr Frankel. With COVID, we have never been more aware of critical shortages of masks, ventilators, hospital beds, etc., all leading to rationing. In this BLOG, Dr Frankel, examines how rationing in our medical care is a much bigger problem than just face masks.

Cannabis May Prevent COVID-19 Infections

Early studies in both Israel and Canada show findings consistent with CBD's effect on COVID-19's ability to take hold in the lungs or the gastrointestinal tract. If the receptors are reduced, the viral infection and pulmonary toxicity should be reduced.
